How Honda Leads the Automotive Industry in Safety

By | Community Support, Dealer News, Honda Cars, Honda Innovation, Honda News, Safety | No Comments

June is National Safety Month, and for the industry leader in producing the safest vehicles on the road, the six-letter word is packed with importance.

At Honda, pioneering the safest vehicles is a constant pursuit of perfection, with the ultimate dream of a collision-free future. Rooted in racing, the same technologies and knowledge that keeps racers safe at speeds over 200 miles per hour are used to produce the safest cars on the streets today.

In fact, by model year 2040, Honda hopes to completely eliminate car collisions from the roads. As part of that effort, the company has become the first in the automotive industry to utilize a new three-dimensional, crash-simulation visualization technology.

Such dedication to safety is why Honda and child company Acura have a combined total of ten IIHS Top Safety Pick vehicles in 2017. One of these top safety picks is the Honda Ridgeline, the first and only pickup truck in history to achieve the rating.

Among its many safety features, the Ridgeline and other Honda models come equipped with Honda Sensing. This safety-oriented technology suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

On top of these, all 2017 models come standard with a multi-angle rearview camera, Advance Compatibility Engineering body structure, Vehicle Stability Assist, anti-lock braking system, and advanced airbag systems.

In light of National Safety Month, suffice it to say that Honda is the go-to source of the safest vehicles on the market.

On Friday, June 2, Wilde East Towne Honda completed its 2017 GRIT program at Prairie View, concluding the school year with the theme of Teamwork. Wilde East Towne Honda in the community for Team Honda’s Second Annual Week of Service

By | Community Support, Dealer News, Employee News, Events, Honda News | No Comments

Team Honda’s second annual National Week of Service is set for June 9th through June 18th, and Wilde East Towne Honda will send three volunteer teams into the community to support the cause.

Wilde East Towne Honda Volunteer Events

Our first team of employees will come together on Wednesday, June 14 to clean up Sun Prairie Dream Park. The not-for-profit playground was built in 2007 by volunteers, and receives no government funding.

On Friday, June 16, another group of Wilde East Towne Honda volunteers will serve food at the River Food Pantry, another nonprofit organization. The Pantry’s primary mission is “to bring a message of mercy and hope to those in need,” a mission Wilde East Towne Honda is thrilled to support.

Our final team for the week will head to the Colonial Club Senior Activity Center to participate in the StrawberryFest Run/Walk event. All proceeds from the event go toward providing programs and services for adults over the age of 55.

Our Commitment to the Community

For Wilde East Towne Honda, this week-long event is part of a greater, year-round strive to give back. Our commitment to the community doesn’t stop with putting great vehicles on the road. The Wilde Automotive Group supports numerous non-profit organizations, charities and events that directly benefit those who live and work here.

The Week of Service was introduced by Honda’s Corporate Social Responsibility sector last year as a way to ‘reinforce the Team Honda spirit of working together to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work.’ To build on Honda’s long history of supporting its communities, the Week of Service was built as a way to formally give back with coordinated volunteering.

Within the Week of Service is Honda’s Founder’s Day. June 11, 2017 marks 58 years since Honda’s first business operation in North America.

Your Summer Car Care Checklist

By | Dealer News, Honda Cars, Owners, Safety, Service News, Service Special | No Comments

The weather is warming, the sun is shining brighter, and you are ready for those hot summer days … is your car?

There are a few car care items you’ll want to check in heading into the summer season. After all, you don’t want your big summer plans to fall through because of car trouble. As always, come by our service center at Wilde East Towne Honda to have our certified technicians have a look!

The Checklist

1. Coolant – Perhaps most importantly, make sure your coolant fluid levels are where they need to be. With the heart of the summer approaching fast, the extreme heat will challenge your vehicle’s cooling system. Make sure your car is prepared – top off fluid levels and have a technician closely inspect the rest of the coolant system for potential leaks and other weaknesses. Check up on other fluids as well – oil, brake, and washer fluids.

2. Tires – Improper tire pressures are a year-round issue, but the result can be much more punishing in summer weather. Consult your vehicle’s manual to find the proper inflation level for your tires. In addition to the tires themselves, be sure to check tire treads for damage or wear. On days with extreme heat, limit your amount of driving, as the hot pavement causes quicker damage and wear when in direct contact with tires on the road.

3. Shading – When possible, limit your vehicle’s direct contact with the sun by parking in shaded areas. The sun’s hot rays can deteriorate a car’s paint. Prolonged exposure can also cause strain on other parts of the car.

4. Cleaning – In general, a thorough post-spring cleaning will help keep your car running smoothly. Remove that winter and spring gunk that tends to get caught in the corners. Keep your vehicle running A++ by cleaning it right at summer’s start.

5. Other – On top of all these checks, be sure to inspect wiper blades, air filter, and exterior surfaces. Is exterior metal equipped with rust preventative? Is your air filter clogged or in need of replacement?

If any of these summer car care items have not been taken care of, your certified technicians at Wilde East Town Honda can help!
