Wisconsin’s Free Ice Fishing Weekend!
Haven’t gone ice fishing before? Now is the time to try it! Wisconsin is offering a free ice fishing weekend January 21-22, 2017. Fish almost anywhere in Wisconsin without a license or trout stamp. This is a great time to try it out and see what everyone is always talking about. Other fishing rules and seasonal restrictions still apply and can be found at this link http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/fishing/regulations/index.html.
You’ll also find a few free fishing weekend events around Wisconsin. We have a few near the Madison area, one in Chippewa Falls, WI, Baraboo WI, and another in Waukesha County between Eagle and Dousman, WI. All ages are welcome to each event. Depending on location, you’ll learn how to ice fish, clean and prepare your catch, learn about what fishing gear you’ll need, and they will have give-a-ways! Fishing gear will be provided at the event for the weekend of January 21-22 for those who don’t have gear. For more information about each event location, please visit dnr.wi.gov.
